Default BB vote scam to save Luke.

BIG Brother is at the centre of a new phone-rigging sensation.

Fans fear there is a plot to keep geeky Luke in the house.

Viewers hoping to evict a wannabe tonight are in for a shock because the phone lines have already closed.

Channel 4 bosses pulled the plug last night at 11.59pm. But the move has sparked confusion and anger because hardly anyone has had the chance to vote.

Fans reckon the more people vote the more likely it is that Luke Marsden, 21, will be given the boot. The majority believe that is why chiefs are trying to fix the poll to stop the skinny student from being evicted.

Nominees are Luke, Dale, 21, Rex, 24, Stu, 25, Kat, 30, Rachel, 24, Mo, 24, and Darnell, 26.

The first anyone knew about the bizarre decision to shut down the phone lines was at the end of Wednesday night’s highlights show on Channel 4.

During the credits, in tiny print at the bottom of the TV screen, came a message: “Lines close at 23.59 on Thursday, 31st July.”

BB fans have bombarded Channel 4 and BB internet sites with angry messages. Some are convinced it is a sneaky plot to keep bookies’ fave for the chop Luke in. One said: “It’s simple, folks. BB doesn’t want to get rid of one of their favourites Luke, even though they may not be favourites to us.

“They give us just over 24 hours to vote in the hope that we won’t bother until Friday – when of course it’s far too late.

“What could be happening is that one of our real favourites like Rex or Kat might end up getting the boot just because of this stupid decision.”

Another fan added: “Part of the enjoyment of the Friday live show is when Davina gives the numbers out and you get to hear the crowd reaction to each one.

“I wonder what she will say now? It kills the atmosphere.”

Last night BB chiefs denied they were trying to fix the vote. A spokeswoman said: “For administrative reasons this week’s Big Brother eviction vote closed a day early.
