But thats not the case at all. There have been a couple of high profile cases this year where people have been imprisoned for years for a crime they didn't commit. If you're on your own and have no alibi, you can just fit the aesthetic description and be sent to prison whether you did it or not. The government are too busy with meeting targets and closing cases even if its the wrong result, to the government that case is just a statistic.
