Rex was joking and laughing with Sara, Rex hasn't been ignoring her and treating her awfully for the last week. Rex/Sara are on good terms, Darnell/Sara are not. Everything Rex said was jokingly while Darnell meant what he said. Rex was just winding her up, Darnell was taking little digs at her. Rex apologised, Darnell didn't. Darnell went way further than Rex.
