Rachel isn't faking it, she's very naive but that doesn't mean she's not caring. She's lived her life away from big cities and had quite a sheltered life so she's not exactly clued up on things that other housemates are.
But what she lacks in street smarts she makes up for in morals, she doesn't jump from bed to bed, make up lies about other housemates, go along with the crowd or call people names.
She's always there for her friends, and even people who aren't her friends. She knows what Lisa has said about her behind her back and that she's made up lies about her but she still congratulated her on her engagement and hugged her when she went up for eviction last night.
When Rachel's been attacked by the others like Rex and Alex no one comforted her, but time and time again she's been there for the people who weren't there for her (Except Kat).
She's also a lot more level headed than the rest of them and has taken a lot of stuff on the chin.
She's not fake, she's just nice, not brilliantly bright, but at least she wants to learn about the world and other people unlike Bex who was content in her stupidity or Rex who thinks he's a genius but is far from it.
