Default Manipulation and deviousness should be rewarded

I am amazed.
How can we deny that this game is about deviousness, manipulation and deception?
Who would like watching decent, nice, fair, cultivated people who think before they speak? People who would refuse gossiping and stabbing their fellow housemates in the back? What would be the point of this game?
I do realise though that such thing would be impossible, for the following reasons:
1) a good and decent person would never lower him or herself to the point of being part of this game.
2) a good person (someone who’s reliable, honest and wise, who does not stab people in the back and who does not gossip) would make the people watching the show feel really bored, since whoever watches this show expects treason and low instincts.

Do you think people watch this game because it stirs their noble side? The way some people in this forum speak of the most controversial characters is so serious and ill-spirited than I kind of feel that watching this game has made them every bit as mean as the housemate they're bashing. Unless, of course, that's the way they already are in real life (to some extent of course).

The way I see things, this game should reward the most manipulative, cold-blooded back-stabber. At least the game would use its full potential and perhaps even perform some sort of catharsis.

As John Cleese said the other day, we're back in the arena. Since this game requires the loss of the players’ dignity (and perhaps that of the audience as well), and since this game is about exalting our lowness, I think we should go for the bad and the ugly. Otherwise it's just a very boring arena we’re watching.
