You got lucky  Companies have now cottoned onto this and there's now a strip thing in all electronics that turns a different colour when in contact with water.

i know, i read about that on the internet so I very nearly didn't send it back, I only did because there was nothing to lose. obviously the people at GU aren't proper apple people, all they have to do is plug it into the PC, and if it doesn't recognise it and it doesn't look broken from the outside they just send another one
i was sooo happy
