Sorry, but I have qualifications, and all I can get is a low grade civil service post.

Sometimes it not what we want, but what we can get.
At the end of the day, you will need a job to pay the bills. High aspirations do not pay bills.
And sometimes qualifications count against you, as I found out, when I was once looking for work, I was prepared to take a job at a fast food place, but one look at my qualifications, and they turned me down as I was over qualified.
