Maybe he does, but for Cowell it's all about winning the show with one his acts. It doesn't matter if they are the best act as long as he wins.
My estimation of Cowell's abilities to give good, helpful and comments on a performance grew as I watched him on American Idol this year, especially in regard to how he handled David Cook. He seemed to what to say each week to make him raise his game. However now my opinion of him as a judge is at an all time lie. he is a sneaky, underhand, lying little scum bag and his words are not worth listening too.
The problem is Cowell's competitive nature coupled with the format of the show where the judges mentor a group of singers.
I use to think the format was a positive feature that made the show more interesting than the American Idol, however now I seeing it as a limitation. I really think the pop idol format is better after the last two shows.
I don't want to see a group of judges fighting over who as the best act. That's not why I watch it. I watch it to see people with talent prove how good they are and I expect the best person to win because they good, not because their mentor is better in the propaganda stakes.
