I do like Alison, she's naturally funny and definitely TV material, but i couldn't really see her working on a childrens' programme.
Brian was an obvious choice for SM:TV because he is childlike himself, whereas Alison is much more in your face!
Give her something more "adult" to do, and she could certainly go far
