Adele's recent performance on Saturday Night Live proved lucrative after millions tuned in to catch Sarah Palin's appearance on the same programme.
The British singer performed two tracks on the show, but it was Palin's role – which gave Saturday Night Live its highest viewing figures since a special edition aired soon after 9/11 – that really drew the attention.
The Republican vice-presidential candidate made a cameo at the start of the show as a response to comedian Tina Fey, who has mocked Palin in a series of impressions over the last few weeks.
As a result, the exposure has seen Adele's debut album "19" shoot to the top of the iTunes digital downloads chart in the US.
"19" debuted at number one in the UK charts on its release earlier this year and has since gone on to sell over half a million copies.
