Distasteful? First of all, they never admitted that they were lesbians in the first place apart from a small joke on Liquid News. And second of all, some of the biggest artists in the world have created controversy to help their record's sell.

t.A.T.u and their management were actually clever in creating a "lesbian" image and it really helped the sell records. They made it onto the news all over the world. They were all Richard & Judy talked about for MONTHS. They were in every magazine/paper and that combined with good music they sold MILLIONS of records.
