Something I skim read, but there isn't that much proof to say that its false.
Quote:
Global warming is an indisputable fact. To date there have been nearly 1000 studies into global warming conducted throughout the world and by a wide variety of organisations. All of them conclude global warming is happening. There's not one single report that shows global warming isn't happening - not one.
There are people who say it's not happening, there are reports that say it's not happening, there are websites that say it's not happening. All of which is totally meaningless as it's not based on anything. I could say the sun won't rise tomorrow - just because I say it doesn't mean it's true. Next time someone tells you global warming isn't happening as them for the evidence.
Up until the 90's the problem was not global cooling. This was a possibility that was looked into (good scientists examine all possibilities) and the conclusion was that there was no evidence of global cooling. Rather than saying global cooling was happening they were saying that it wasn't. As with every argument put forward by those who dispute global warming it's been twisted to suit their own ends. In fact, global warming was first mentioned more than 150 years ago.
Global warming has been at the top of government aggendas for decades. Carter addressed it in 1980, Gore in the 80's, Thatcher in the 70's and 80's repeatedly addressed the issue but these pleas fell on deaf ears.
The US is the main cause of man's contribution to global warming - fact, period. China is the second biggest polluter, India is third. The rate at which China's economy is growing means that it will, in a few years time, become the biggest polluter. One billion Chinese haven't suddenly abandonned agrculture and started manufacturing goods - the majority are still living a simple existence in rural communities.
People aren't blaming China so much as it doesn't have the ability to do a great deal about global warming. People are blaming the US as it has more ability than just about every other country yet lags way behind when it comes to taking action.
Even if the earth was uninhabited it would still be warming up - it cools and warms of it's own accord and for the last 18,000 years has been in a warming up phase - that's what caused the last ice age to end. The difference is that in the last 200 years (since the Industrial Revolution) the rate at which the earth has warmed is faster than ever - instead of a very slow, gradual increase it is, by contrast, an exceptionally rapid rise.
It's interesting that one of the main sources of 'proof' relied upon by those who dispute global warming is a report written by Doctor Frederick Seitz - the same person that was employed by the tobacco industry to show that smoking wasn't harmful and to this day still claims second hand smoke isn't harmful. Only now, his interests don't lie in tobacco but in oil - as a director of one oil company and major shareholder in another.
