Why isn't it on the 11th?

Originally it was, then the stock exchange, or businesses complained about the disruption caused by this 2 minutes at 11, so they created Remembrance Sunday, and observance on 11 November was dropped, and the vetrans had to make do with the Sunday.
And so it was for a number of decades
Then, prior to 1997, the Royal British Legion made comments that they would really like the Armistice day to return. John Major the prime minister at the time said he would be observing it, and the then leader of the opposition Tony Blair said he would as well. Then a number of big stores said they would observe it.
So Armistice day unofficially returned.
