Default Stop voting for X Factor\'s Daniel Evans

Quote:
Stop voting for X Factor's Daniel Evans
I don't know a single person who's a fan of Daniel Evans. I don't even know anyone who knows anyone who's a fan of Daniel Evans.

And yet, he's still in The X Factor. How is this even possible? Come on, own up - who the heck out there is voting for him? Daniel's clearly a nice man, and one who's had something truly tragic happen to him.

It's impossible not to feel for him.

Some may suggest that he should be at home with his motherless kids, but I fully support his right to move miles away, into a house in London with a bunch of teenagers, to pursue a self-indulgent dream instead. Sort of.

But the simple fact is this: by voting for Daniel, you're saying you approve of him desperately exploiting his misery, week after week.

Daniel's survived this long purely because of blatant emotional blackmail.

He doesn't choose his songs alone so it's not entirely his fault, but he must be aware of the effect the words he's singing beseechingly into the camera will have on the viewing public.

In week one, he sang I Want To Know What Love Is - "In my life, I've had heartache and pain, don't know if I can face that again. Can't stop now, I've travelled so far, to change this lonely life..." He may as well have added "...by winning The X Factor" on to the end.

Next it was time for a bit of disco manipulation (Don't Leave Me This Way) before the song To Where You Are - which he dedicated to his wife. ("I feel you all around me, your memory so clear.

Forever love, watching me from up above.") It's a miracle he restrained himself from doing Can't Live If Living Is Without You in Mariah Carey week. Mind you, the one he did choose, Open Arms, does include the lines, "Living without you, living alone, this empty house seems so cold", so it still fitted his criteria.

TEARS If Daniel wins, we will have just wasted six months of our lives. It will render this series absolutely pointless, for both viewers and participants - not least because the winner will be a very average singer who doesn't have what the name of the show is. Daniel's no Leona - he's not even a Leon.

Let's all get a grip. It's fine to feel sad and empathetic about what Daniel's been through.

It's fine to like him and wish him all the best for the future.

What's NOT fine is voting for him any more. Because if this goes any further, it won't just be heaven there'll be tears in.
