I think the difference between Alex and Tim is that Alex accepts he is a turning into a "moaning old ba**tard", whilst Tim just thinks he, himself, is wonderful, a good guy, nice looking, etc, etc, etc, (snore, snore).

Alex still has some semblance of self awareness but Tim is so far removed from any form of reality he's become a complete parody. Just get him out, please.
