As you may have seen on the DS Singles Release Diary, there are a lot of big new tracks out this week. But who's going to be quaffing champers with Fearne 'n' Reggie on Sunday, and who'll be hurling a vase of oriental lilies at their long-suffering PA instead? Well, the first midweeks are now in and here's a list of the winners and losers so far.
Take That are on course to notch up their eleventh number one on Sunday. 'Greatest Day' is currently outselling its nearest rival, 'Beyoncé's 'If I Were A Boy', by a very comfortable margin.
Britney's 'Womanizer', which is out on CD single this week, is still inside the top ten but outside the top five.
At present, Same Difference are sneaking into the top ten with debut single 'We R One'.
The prognosis isn't quite so good for McFly, whose Children In Need single is currently at the wrong end of the top 20, and Britain's Got Talent champ George Sampson, whose double A-side debut is languishing at #26.
But at least they're doing better than Madonna, whose newbie 'Miles Away' is currently at a lowly #38. If it doesn't climb, it'll become her first single to miss the top 20 since 'Borderline' in 1984.
To find out whether Take That can hold onto the number one spot and Madonna can save the day, check back for an update tomorrow.
