The are reports that there is rising resentment in The X Factor house toward Diana Vickers from the remaining finalists, because they believe that there is a conspiracy to ensure that she wins the show.

It has been widely reported that this year's winning single is going to be Hallelujah, a song which Vickers performed in the early stages of the contest, gaining plaudits from Louis Walsh who said: "She made it totally her own."

An insider told Heat magazine: "Tempers are running high. They feel it is just the latest in a series of stunts that have left them wondering if the competition has already been won."

Further ingredients to the brewing conspiracy are the rumours that Diana was let off performing for a week due to illness, when she was seen out at a fireworks party and that X Factor supremo Simon Cowell gave his backing for Diana to win at a recent charity dinner.

The insider said: "Many suspect producers are paving the way for Diana to win and there is nothing they can do.

"They feel even if the public put her in the bottom two, the judges will always save her."

Diana was angered by the claims, she said: "I'm not a cheat!"

The young singer, who gave a mixed performance on the show last night won through to the semi-final along with Eoghan Quigg, JLS and Alexandra Burke.

Spanish singer Ruth Lorenzo was eliminated after losing the public vote.
