lol well its only a guess lol but though it might be.
Well I read it as him saying protecting humans from the changing of gender/homosexuality is as no less important than saving the rain forests from destruction. In other words, global warming is a big issue but the "blurring" of gender and protecting mankind from that is just as important.

I think it's more trans gender people than homosexuality itself, but obviously you can see where it comes into place.
