Its a word. Not a fact. Words tend to be flexible. Some people dont take it as an insult, some do. Some see it as a mindset, some see it as a fashion statement. You can see it as a way to say 'Hi!' to the postman if you like.

True, and that is what I am getting at, but it can be used as an insult also. Not amogst Chav's, mind you, but amongst non-Chavs, as in
''those bloody Chavs on the street corners...''
