yes this is getting ridiculous....i mean its used all the time in everyday life (in non-demeaning ways) so why cant it be used in a situation like this? there are differences of course.....if someone says to a close friend "whats up my N" i could see it as a term of endearment, meaning they are close to one another. its when someone says "look at that N over there" when it gets offensive and WAYYYY over the line.
Dont get me wrong, in no way am i defending racism because it is one of the worts things on this planet, but i agree things have went too far. Most people who are with the updated culture can realize the difference between a playful & a derogatory use of the word....its the prudes & a-holes of the world who cant see the difference, and they are also the ones who keep the debate going.
i dont know, i dont want to fuel some big debate here, but thats my honest thoughts on the situation....its just getting too over the top imho.
