If you think Obama was elected because he is black, you really have no clue when it comes to reality.
it was part of the reason.

96% of black people voted for obama, it could have been superman running against him and he'd of still got a high percentage.

but its obviously not the only reason.
Blacks only make up about 10% of the population.

Obama was voted in by all ethnicities, men, women, gay, straight, etc.

His 2004 Democratic Convention speech, is what catapulted him onto the national scene.

As a minority, blacks are no more discriminated against than Jews. Gays and lesbians are the most discriminated against in the country, and that has to change. Don't get me wrong, if you're black, or gay, or both, the South is not somewhere you want to move to. So in that sense, there are areas where you are the MOST oppressed. Racial minorities are protected by the government though.

Obama's election broke down tons of barriers for ALL PEOPLE, enabling all to be able to run for the highest office in the country. Hillary Clinton did the same thing. Women are now seen as viable candidates. America jumped in with both feet. So much was broken down, which makes for any even greater chance of progressing beyond other nations when it the past, has lagged so far behind.

The country is hanging on the edge of a cliff now, just like almost all countries in the West, financially, and it will have to change itself even more to save itself.
