The trouble is that since BB4, a lot of the housemates seem to be really OTT, or typical stereotypes. There are not really many people that viewers can identify with. In BB2 and 3, there were plenty of people with big characters - Helen, Brian, Bubble, Alex, Jade, Kate, Jonny - but I think that people felt that they could identify with these people. Also, it's quite obvious that BB deliberately picks contestants who they think will argue with each other (one of the most extreme examples was last year in BB5, when Marco - who was gay - said in his audition video that he hated immigrants, and Ahmed - who was an immigrant - said in his audition video that he hated gay people). If they just picked the right people, like they did in BB2 and 3, the show would be much better. There is always going to be conflict in a show where several people who don't know each other are stuck living together 24 hours a day - the program makers don't need to manufacture situations to deliberately cause MORE conflict. As this year has shown, too many arguments don't make good tv.
