Maybe, but the BBC could have handled it better.... for example they could have gave her a final warning telling she had to apologize on air, wait for her to refuse and then give her another warning and sack her. However it looks like they just sacked her, they could have been more professional about it.

The BBC looks like it run by people with little or no knowledge of basic management skills. I wouldn't be surprised if they have opened themselves up to an unfair dismissal claim.
