try renaming the zip with no extension ... then send it and tell your mate to add the zip extension.
or
try uploading to one of those temporary file hosting sites and then send your mate the link. eg
"http://www.filefactory.com/upload/"
great for really big files but it could help you
anyway sounds strange ... are you trying to send anything with code... eg some email clients block javascript code in attachments for security reasons
