Comic Relief's celebrity climbers avoided a last-minute hiccup as they jetted out to Tanzania to embark on the first leg of The BT Red Nose Climb to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating nearly missed the outbound flight after his connection from Dublin was delayed by an hour-and-a-half.

The star had to be personally driven across the Heathrow tarmac in order to catch the waiting flight.
