Well that's most of the fans turning off isn't it! Even if it's coming to the end of it's life, the series needs to look forward, not back - and Big Brother was always at it's best when it acted like previous series didn't happen - so I'm not a fan of your Blast from the Past task. The box thing can easily be resurrected though by dressing it up as something new - the Aussie's did it last year in dog kennels.
As for your earlier post - fake evictions of any form are something I'd rule out, but I really like the idea of the Long Goodbye, but you have to really make it worth it for the evictee - and frankly they'd probably think they could quit and make the money on the outside. I'd also keep it a secret - do it as the first eviction, but the other HMs won't know there is an eviction. Call the evictee to the diary room and tell them they'll be leaving in a week, but can't tell the other HMs.

We've basically done the box tax twice since BB6- BB7's waiting game and that thing in BB8 where they had to lie in fish guts
Different concept but basically the same thing
I don't think it would work again anyway, it was just that mix which made it work so well. The CBB version was nowhere near as good
