I was just thinking that you were wrong due to the Moors. A very quick check reveals.
Historical evidence places Robin anywhere between 1190 and 1307 AD.

That means black people were in this country around 1000 years before Robin of Loxley.
So I don't know what history books you actually checked. The ones on the Combat 18 web site perhaps?
