Eugene grabs shock £50,000

GEEKY Eugene Sully was £50,000 richer as Big Brother pulled its most amazing stunt ever last night.

His windfall came as TV bosses unveiled a brilliant twist to spice up the final two days.

After Craig's eviction Big Brother gathered the remaining housemates on the sofas and asked for one to go to the Diary Room.

Eugene volunteered - and was stunned to be presented with a suitcase full of £50,000 in bank notes - half the prize fund.

He was given a minute to decide whether to take it, or leave it all for Friday's overall winner.

Watched by the other three housemates on a plasma screen, Eugene chose to take the cash - but wrongly assumed it meant he had to leave the house.

And he had no idea that had he declined the £50,000 the total prize fund would have been doubled to £200,000 - a fact revealed to the others as he sat in the Diary Room.

Eugene, 27, spent most of the minute agonising with his head in his hands. But in the end the lure of the money proved too much. Wrongly thinking he would not be eligible to win the grand final he told Big Brother: "By doing this at least there's two winners. I'm going to take the cash."

As a shame-faced Eugene returned, Makosi, Kinga and Anthony - still in shock after pal Craig's eviction - offered congratulations and hugs. Eugene apologised, saying: "I know morally it's the wrong decision."

Kinga admitted she would also have taken the cash, but Makosi claimed she would have turned it down. She said: "I would not have done it but don't worry - just chill.

"There's no right or wrong. But I won't lie to you. It's not what I would've done." Anthony chipped in that he would have rejected the cash and "boosted it up to £200,000".

But Eugene ignored the comment, seemingly oblivious to what would have happened had he not taken the money.

He later confessed to Kinga: "I've got mixed feelings really. I've taken money from the winner. It'll be 'Nasty Eugene' all over the papers."

-BIG Brother last night denied Makosi was an actress handpicked for the show after it was revealed Endemol, its makers, were invoiced £609.69 from a talent agency which has her on its books.
