As opposed to typing one out? At least rappers have something to say. And their not designed as songs. Most rappers will tell you - their horrible vocalists.
Rappers write their own lyrics, and by default must be considered artists in that respect. Hip-Hop has a huge, rich culture surrounding it. Certainly more than being fed an 'artist' from a television game show.
