I don't think they were made of glass, Flossy - because the housemates seemed to be able to bend them in order to get through from the poor side to the rich side. So perhaps they were some sort of clear perspex???
Personally I didn't like the bars because they divided the housemates and made them compete against each other. I enjoyed BB3 much more after the bars came down and those housemates who were left had the opportunity to bond together. But hey ....... I must have been in the minority according to the ratings figures. C'est la vie!!!
