It's more a question of how far can political correctness go before we're going backwards, and not forwards? In my experience; which as a young white man is going to be entirely different to the experiences of people of different races and genders; racism and racist are terms that are thrown around far too easily. White people are now, I think, easily scared into not speaking to people of other races, not because they're racist, but because they don't want to be accused of being racist; and to the neutral eye it looks as if they are being racist. The number of friends I have who are of an ethnic minority is less than five, because I live in an area where there are very few people of different ethnicities/races, and I feel as though this is a poor reflection on me, even though that's not my fault. Surely racism is not as bad as it was a few decades ago, at least here in the United Kingdom? I don't know, I've only been around for seventeen years :P.
