What a patronising post, once again. In other words, she's a sour-faced old hag that's been waited on hand and foot, lived in the lap of luxury, and travelled the world for free at the taxpayer's expense.
For people to post in such a patronising manner shows
extreme ignorance. This is England, not France. There's a massive difference between a nation that's not had the burden of royalty for 157 years and one in which the majority of the population want to see the German tourist evicted from her palatial environs - along with her Greek husband and their in-bred, doltish offspring. The French, as a nation, are not the type to endure oppression from within by any means, as history clearly indicates. Yet they've been happy with the status quo for the past 47 years, which tears a massive hole in your already flimsy argument.
Both Shakespeare and The Beatles are far greater tourist attractions. They give the nation more than enough 'identity'. This country hasn't been 'governed by a monarchy' for hundreds of years, and invasion has been thwarted by nothing other than the lives of countless working class men, press-ganged into military service and used as cannon-fodder.
We have absolutely no need for royalty, and the nation would be all the better without them. Move Lizzy Windsor into a nice semi somewhere, and open Buckingham Palace as a museum in the care of The National Trust. Scrap the hand-outs, repossess the Duchy of Cornwall and all the other stolen assets, and give the money to the pensioners - the people that really have 'worked tirelessly' for the good of the nation.
