I think his point was that they all suck compared to the ex HMs.
The HMs pathetic attempts at being rebels to try and be entertaining for the day, to
compete with the ex HMs, was a disrespectful farce.
I think he knows his limitations, and he realises the star quality and intriguing nature of ex HMs like Nikki, Brian, Michelle, etc.
He just had the guts and perceptive ability to reveal this truth, unlike the others.
