thankyou exactly...my mate taught kids in china...they didnt end up with american accents
if you watch 'friends' and 'sex and the city' you adopt this idiotic american accent
they think by speaking american they are becoming 'westernised'
its a rather ****ed up mentality

Sorry to be dry but - That would probably owe to the way she was taught English, American English is often the model accent when it comes to teaching our language.

yeah my pal taught english in loads of countries and she had to teach american-english. she had parents taking their kids out of her classes coz she 'wasn't speaking proper english' and coz she didn't have an american accent (!!)
