His mate on BBLB on Sunday said Tom used to work in a pizza restaurant and was a 'blob' back then. Probably got teased unmercifully for it so not surprising he has an unhealthy attitude to body shape. He may even suffer from 'body dismorphia', similar to anorexia, but in his mind he sees himself as underdeveloped so is driven to work out to correct his body. Once he started to get in shape and people complimented him on it, it began a psycholgical feedback loop and a "treadmill he can't step off" (if you will excuse the mixture of metaphor and literalism)
