It's not really for selfish reasons though, it's just because of rationalization. Like upholding their morals, belief they are a good person, etc.
It's not like they do it to purposefully ruin entertainment or because they actually gain pleasure from viewing Hira.
Remember most voters are female, they often do this moralic rationalizing.
