seems like bea cannot think for herself already without support from her perceived soulmate. tom got it pretty much right, freddie is v popular with members of the public. any entanglement with him could be seen by the public as scheming, even if bea is genuine. so tom works thjs out and tells her how it might look and she freaks, tells freddie, who i think is the other haf decent inmate, who challenges tom, who gets upset that a good turn is misconstrued by bea, who is determined to see more to it than there is.
