Or he liked her, genuinely believed what he was saying to her, and just wanted to protect her from the players. Poor sod is slowly realising she's the biggest player in there now

... and, what did he say to her about the other housemates that was not the truth? The main thing he did was point out Lisa's actions & influence, which we have all seen to be the case. I don't remember him trying to slag off Sophie or Rodrigo for example.

Rodrigo posed no threat. I do remember Sophie saying that Marcus did not like Noirin spending time with her - he was obviously worried that Sophie might make Noirin realise what he was doing.

I just threw does two in by way of obvious example, they weren't meant as an exhaustive list. Can you give me the examples of where he tried to put her wise against any of the other housemates bar Lisa & Karly?
Your Sophie related example is pretty sketchy to be fair.
