Well, I agree we can become too politically correct but remember that Christmas is actually just a date assigned in Roman times to accomodate existing Pagan festivities in Britain. In fact, they attached it to the winter festival.
No-one knows when Jesus was supposed to have been born, but apparently shepherds didn't watch their flocks in the fields by night any later than October because it was too cold!
Let's face it, it doesn't really have that much to do with religion anymore for most people.
