He made a reasonable comment and he only did it for the sake of making Lisa feel uncomfortable. Considering the way she's spoken to him and treated him in the past, I didn't think it was entirely unreasonable. He found humour in it, he was mocking both her and David because they take the whole process so seriously.

The whole comment about his own popularity was warranted. I still don't think he can believe that he's still there.
