Measures to give teachers a legal right to discipline pupils, enforce parent's responsibility for their children's behaviour, and help young people counter bullying, will continue, says Minister Jacqui Smith.

With the second annual Anti-Bullying Week starting today, the Schools Minister reaffirmed the Government's White Paper commitment.

Smith said: "Bullying should never be tolerated in our schools, no matter what its motivation. Children must know what is right and what is wrong, and that there will be consequences for crossing the line..........

............Meanwhile, a Big Brother winner and a talkshow queen are taking on the school bullies as councils across the country join in the fight against bullying.

Reality TV star Anthony Hutton and chatshow host Trisha Goddard are both backing council-organised events during Anti Bullying Week.

Pupils and teachers will also be taking part in roadshows, drama groups and conferences to tackle bullying behaviour, including text message bullying and 'happy slapping'.
