Ok here's a short story i found
"Definition of a Haunted House"
by Jim Warfield
I live in and make my living from this "Haunted House", the Ravens Grin Inn, I take people through it 301 nights of the year, and have been doing just this for 16 years.
When I first got the house some of its former tenets came down to sort of warn me about the unexplainable events here that they had to endure before finally finding someplace else to live.
I had no opinion concerning the "Supernatural", and saw most of these stories as people's attempts to get some attention, or they were very depressed or had just come home from the funeral of a close friend and were engrossed in thoughts of mortality and eternity, then they see a ghost!?
After I finally got open, I was hearing the same story from the people coming through my place concerning the appearence of a ghostly lady in the northeast corner of the wine cellar below the basement.
Large groups would tell me that they saw her, then a month later more would be saying the exact same thing, same description of her, same location of origin in the room!
these groups couldn't possibly know each other to get a "story" put together, these people were from opposite directions of the compass from here and many miles distant.
I was starting to consider believing, "something"?
I would tell those coming here for tours about the things that went on here , and for many years not really very much did, so the time spent telling them was very short. I would say, "I don't make up these stories, because if I did, they would be better stories!"
Then 6 years ago after an old woman stopped and told me about her Father's 1925 speakeasy business in the wine cellar being ruined by a ghost appearing from the northeast corner of a lady in a white dress,we had some strange things happen in that wine cellar that scared away four of my employees, permanently!
I tend to believe people when they have no motive to tell you a ghost story, or maybe you have to cajole it from them, or I witness their whole demeanor change because they have just had such an experience.
I try to tell as much of this haunted history of the house as is humanly possible during any one tour of this place, I use all the details and facts I can to allow the listener to make up their own mind, I know very well, myself that details catch many liars when things begin to contradict one another. I want them to see that I am more than willing to allow this sort of scrutiny of the event, because I believe the things I tell about here have all actually happened.
The story about the skull rolling across my front room actually happened . I can come up with the eventual names of almost all of the people who were there that night, if anyone wants to check out my version or my truthfullness.
I have recently had two people here filming documentaries on this house and myself. I fill up an hour and a half of tape telling about this house's haunting now. Most of this tape is on some cutting room floor because their requirements limited their finished product to a mere 15 minutes, I have a copy of the master tape, it's just me , sitting in a chair telling all that I know about this haunted house. I was told tonight , when typed into a transcript, it took 25 pages!
Yes, I admit it, I am a "creative" person by alot of people's standards, but I would not waste anyone's time telling made-up stories that would serve no purpose toward the knowledge of this other plane of existence. I want to know what all of these things are and how they work myself.
Some patterns have been sort of developing, some very strange patterns , the likes of which I have never read , nor heard of before.
One such pattern seems to be of a like-genetic-type when it comes to seeing a supernatural being. Two people having extreme experiences here share the ethnic backround as the ghost appears to have.
Another strange item that I have not heard or read of before is the witness to a supernatural sighting being totally in a state of high-humor, laughing so as to weaken the knees, then it happens, a ghost or an orb appears!
Yes, I do live in this house, my Great-grandfather Ely was a bartender in this very house in 1910 (he didn't own it) and I do have a few nights of the year that I do feel uneasy, like someone is looking over my shoulder.
I felt this for two weeks after the War-lock Psychic told me about "Evil" Frank, the ghost of what seems to be a serial-killer and his three victims behind my walls!
The walls of the wine cellar are huge rocks and the house sits ontop of the wine cellar, with a floor 24 feet below the earth, I won't be doing any "exploritory" digging anytime soon!
