A few forums, biased toards nerdy/eccentric/loner type people who post away propoganda and verbatim. These create multiple accounts, votes in polls, etc and use multiple forums too.
The actuality is about 200 members online and mostly the same regulars. On DS, maybe double that.

He was 3rd last time I checked, behind Sophie and Siavash. Your example shows that anyone can win, polls mean jack. Especially when forums are nerdy and attract the weirder types. The public and chavs, of millions, needn't care or favour weird nerds like Halfwit, Marcus, Siavash. The former two got booed last Friday.
Charlie has in excess of 40, 000 fans on facebook and is chock-a-block packed with support.
To put it into perspective, Halfwit has about 1000, and it's stayed at that since the MAXIMUM of his popularity, if not declined even.

Every big brother winner was popular on big brother polls. Its impossible for someone who is not very popular on big brother polls to win big brother.
