Hmmm...maybe it does have its use in extreme cases. But on the whole the ignore button is the refuge of those unable to articulate there own opinions when challenged by others.

It is not a form of censorship.
It would be censorship if one stopped
others from reading posts by a particular person. Ignoring someone is no different from declining to listen to a person you find tiresome or turning over the television because you dislike a programme. In fact, the option is very well named: it is ignoring someone.
As I said earlier, I don't use it myself, but it is certainly nothing like a form of censorship.
