Vicky, you are right to wonder why the polls are so reliable and Netto is also correct to say that they do have a remarkably good record.
Any statistician would dismiss them if only because the online polls are run under entirely different rules ie multiple voting and yet they do predict results with surprising accuracy.
As an aside, in its early days it was often reported (sometimes by politicians) that more young people voted for BB than in a General Election.
This even led to suggestions that phone voting should be introduced in politics.
It was of course nonsense for two reasons: the multiple voting referred to above and also that there is no evidence (as far as I know) that the phone voters are predominately young.
I know several retired folks who live alone and get very involved in the programme.
I suspect that they do sometimes vote and this might explain Freddie's success (a mystery to some) in so many votes.
Here's a random thought for you young people: old people often have poor hearing, they tend to like people on TV or radio who speak clearly enough for them to understand.
That last part is a very interesting and original theory...

Though, subtitles are available...if this is true, then i doubt any people who are hard of hearing will like david...my hearing is spot on and I still cant understand him
