The FBU has suspended the first batch of strikes this weekend due to the way talks have been going with John Prescot.

With any luck the problem will be resolved and further strikes will not take place (good news in my household!)

Talk is that the firefighters will be offered 10% immediately and a further 6% after the pay review.

This 16% however, is what the firefighters originally agreed on last year, but Mr Prescot vetoed it.

If he had just accepted this then, none of this would have happened!
