Default Coach Trip returns ... almost twice as long

This could be the new Big Brother once Channel 4 have their way and get rid. Prime time Monday-Friday for 10 weeks byt its on daytime for now

Channel 4 has recommissioned daytime reality series Coach Trip for an extended run of 50 episodes in 2010.

The fourth series of the cult show will air over ten weeks, an increase on the usual 30-episode, six-week format.

Tour guide Brendan Sheerin is returning as compere for the new instalment, which will take in 50 cities, including Istanbul, Greece, Sicily and Malta. The coach will also venture to Africa for the first time with a trip to Tunisia.

"I'm thrilled that Coach Trip will be back for a longer run in 2010," said Helen Warner, C4's head of daytime. "The last series in particular seems to have really caught the viewers' imagination and after all the drama last time, I can't wait to see what happens on this next trip!"

Exec producer Matt Walton added: "We love that the series features people you wouldn't normally see on a reality show and takes viewers to places and activities often overlooked by traditional travel programmes. We’re delighted the extended run means we can venture further afield – I'm particularly excited to see how Brendan gets on with new countries and activities, like a hunting lesson in rural Serbia!"

Filming on Coach Trip series four begins in September for broadcast in early 2010 on Channel 4.
