No, but would you work in a sports shop? Probably not. Most people who work in a sports shop have some background knowledge of sport. Either way; it's general store consensus to ensure nothing offensive is printed on shirts - some stores won't even print anything OTHER than player names. So something so obscure as "96 not enough" should have been checked out.

Edit: Oh but I do agree with you, the guy who got it printed is undoubtedly the worst.
Or a kid that just has a Saturday job and wasn't even born when it happened...
