Gotta loves how be actually brags about how he will say no. As if 'not doing' is something 'done'. As if the easiest and least challenging thing in life is not 'refusing'.
Then this little coward actually tries to double-up the boasting over how "I said I'd refuse.. I TOLD you I would refuse!"
He actually tries to get repute and 'man of his word' credibility because he 'stuck to his word'. Wow.. is there no cowardly selfish little act this boy can't find a way to 'turn upside down' so he was brave and others were stupid?
This is why (tragically) Marcy will not change from this experience. His 17 year old boys 'protective shell' really is 'irrepressible'.
Sadly he thinks this is good. Which means it wont change. Which is sad. At 85 he will still be a miserable stupid little 17 year old boy.
