GOLDIE Lookin' Chain's Maggot went native to prepare for this year's Celebrity Big Brother, we can reveal.

The Newport rapper stayed in a hut in the wilds of Scotland before entering the madhouse in a bid to ready him for anything.

On Thursday night Maggot refused to reveal his true identity, despite repeated questioning by his housemates.

But Wales on Sunday can unmask the TV show's joint favourite as former Cross Keys College student Andrew Majors.

Paul Flynn, MP for Newport West, let slip to WoS that Maggot had confided in him before appearing on Celeb BB.

"Maggot has prepared himself for it as he went to Scotland and lived in a hut for a bit to prepare for the house," said Mr Flynn, who is backing Maggot to win.

"He has a good chance of winning because he is one of the few recognisable human beings in there. He is entirely normal, he will remain unnoticed for a while, but I think he might end up in the last three."

His easygoing nature - together with his admission he's "just here to make up the numbers" has turned him into 5/2 joint favourite with Michael Barrymore.

The tallest man in British hip-hop has also earned a fan in top footballer Neil Lennon. Last night, the Celtic midfield hardman said: "I like Maggot. All he seems to do is sit around smoking and drinking. He doesn't take life too seriously, he's my kind of guy."

Within minutes of entering the house in his chav tracksuit, Maggot's name was under discussion.

"The Maggot? Or Mag-git?" asked fake celeb Chantelle, from Essex.

And he's hoping his slimy nickname will put off Barrymore, who, he claimed "was looking at me funny".

Maggot, who is yet to treat the other celebs to blasts of GLC's songs, which include Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do, is also sharing the house with basketball player Dennis Rodman, Baywatch star Traci Bingham, glamour girl Jodie Marsh, actress Rula Lenska, eighties pop star Pete Burns, rock musician Samuel Preston, MP George Galloway and Sven Goran Eriksson's former lover Faria Alam. The show runs for 23 days and money raised from votes for Maggot will go to his chosen charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind.
